Create Your Safari Experience

The swahili word Safari came to mean the adventure of a lifetime, a guided journey into some of the most spectacular natural places on the planet. But a trip to Tanzania is no longer the colossal undertaking it was in days gone by. Today’s visitors can choose from safaris undertaken by vehicle, on foot, on horseback … and even by hot air balloon.

The wilderness never fails to fascinate and there are more animals roaming on the plains of Serengeti alone than anywhere else in the world. So, whichever method you choose we can promise you a great safari.

Best Time to Go On Safari:

The best wildlife viewing months in Tanzania are during the dry season from late June to October. The best chance of seeing the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti is during June and July and the time to see the wildebeest calving is late January to February.

The southern and western circuit parks are best visited during the dry-season (June to October), unlike the more popular northern circuit parks that can be visited year-round. Tarangire is the only exception, since its wildlife viewing is considerably better in the dry-season as well.

Getting There

The starting point for a northern safari is Arusha, which was once a traditional Maasai village.

International flights arrive either through Dar, a two hour flight from Arusha, or Kilimanjaro which is only a half an hour drive away. Your northern safari can start with a short flight from Arusha to any of the parks, or even a drive.

Northern Tanzania Circuit Safari

The well-established ‘Northern Circuit’ safari of northern Tanzania offers some of the world’s most diverse safari experiences, consisting of National Parks, game reserves, conservation areas and private concessions.

Among these are the world-famous and iconic Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, and of course their less well-known neighbours, Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. Learn more about each park.
